Bois Magique joins Montreal Design Week (May 2–3) Practice Beyond Design  -
Conversations and curated works on view that push design beyond itself.

As part of design week Design Week, Bois Magique opens its workshop for an intimate off-site viewing, turning a working space into an exhibition space, where finished pieces sit alongside works in progress. Positioned across culture, community, and environment, the programme approaches design as a response to the present.

The event offers an opportunity to introduce Bois Magique to the broader design community, while providing a platform for creators working outside traditional or institutional frameworks. It also encourages exchange within a space dedicated to the community.

On this occasion, Rafaël Khoury, founder of Bois Magique, will lead a discussion to share the mission behind these initiatives. The public is invited to engage, share, and ask questions.

This initiative was selected as part of the call for participation issued by the Bureau de design de la ville de Montréal.

Atelier Bon Train is an inclusive woodworking studio that seeks to provide affordable access to woodworking tools and machinery for artisans and artists, and offer specialized services to visual artists. Established in the fall of 2020 by Rafaël Khoury, Kevin Husereault and Elizabeth Xu, Bon Train originated from a modest basement studio in the Plateau-Mont Royal. Khoury, Huserault and Xu set out to foster a unique, diverse and inclusive space for artists and woodworkers to share skills and knowledge. We welcome anyone to join us in our mission to serve the community better.
